it is my pleasure to recommend miss lee who is one of my favorite students for her application to postgraduate studies in your university. i am james spencer abbey, the statistics lecturer in the london school of economics and political science.

高考成績直接申請國外大學(xué)?
從去年年底開始,包括伯明翰大學(xué)、卡迪夫大學(xué)、萊斯特大學(xué)等在內(nèi)的16所英國大學(xué)陸續(xù)宣布接受中國高考成績,劍橋大學(xué)甚至幾年前就有接受高考成績的項(xiàng)目。這無疑對中國考生是個(gè)利好,一個(gè)成績就能同時(shí)申請兩國高校,大大節(jié)約了原本需要考a-level的時(shí)間和精力。
這些大學(xué)給出了自己的錄取要求:劍橋大學(xué)要求高考成績在省排名前,同時(shí)參考高中學(xué)業(yè)考試和會(huì)考成績,并鼓勵(lì)提供奧賽和sat。如果申請專業(yè)對科目比如數(shù)學(xué)有要求,則數(shù)學(xué)成績需達(dá)到前80%。其他大學(xué)比如卡迪夫也要求高考總分80%以上,對高二、高三成績也另有規(guī)定。還有些大學(xué)不接受用高考成績申請醫(yī)學(xué)、牙醫(yī)等專業(yè),有的僅接受北京、上海、廣東考生。
除了對高考成績要求較高,大學(xué)及專業(yè)對學(xué)生英語水平也有要求,基本都要在雅思以上,甚至分。劍橋大學(xué)更需要對學(xué)生進(jìn)行面試,綜合評估學(xué)生的邏輯和思維方式是否符合該專業(yè)要求。
雖然英國大學(xué)可以接受高考成績,但總體看來要求還是很高,限制也很多。
美國也有一些大學(xué)接受高考成績,個(gè)別學(xué)校甚至無需提供托福和sat成績。伊利諾伊理工大學(xué)、舊金山大學(xué)、楊百翰大學(xué)等多所排名全美50~100名的大學(xué)基本上會(huì)要求分?jǐn)?shù)在一本線以上,同時(shí)申請人需參加面試或英語測試,并提供高中成績單。雖然看起來要求不高,但這些對高考成績認(rèn)可度高的學(xué)校在排名上其實(shí)略顯不足。
雖然高三畢業(yè)生利用高考成績可以直申的英美高校越來越多,但這種方式畢竟不是主流,而且越好的大學(xué)對成績要求越高。如果高考成績不理想,學(xué)生仍然很難申請到國外頂尖大學(xué)。
高考已落下帷幕,6月20號之后各省高考成績也將陸續(xù)公布。在經(jīng)歷了斷臂維納斯身高、三朵云坐標(biāo)等題目的考驗(yàn)之后,你對自己的高考成績敢報(bào)多大信心?如果高考失利,在用高考成績申請毫無優(yōu)勢的情況下,如何避開不利條件申請到排名靠前的英美大學(xué)?
假設(shè)a同學(xué)平時(shí)成績優(yōu)秀,基礎(chǔ)扎實(shí),但因高考發(fā)揮失常,成績連一本線都沒有過,a同學(xué)應(yīng)該怎樣規(guī)劃自己的留學(xué)方案?
如果a同學(xué)想去英國讀本科可以通過預(yù)科,這是高中畢業(yè)生申請英國大學(xué)的常用途徑。預(yù)科是大學(xué)本科課程開始前為了彌補(bǔ)教育體制差異而開設(shè)的銜接課程,一般為期一年。高中畢業(yè)生可以憑借高中三年成績單和雅思等語言成績申請預(yù)科,再利用預(yù)科成績來申請本科。但需要注意的是,英國排名前五的大學(xué)不接受并預(yù)科成績。因此如果a同學(xué)想上牛津劍橋,就不能通過上預(yù)科的方式進(jìn)行申請。
英國預(yù)科課程主要有三類。第一類是教育集團(tuán)開辦的預(yù)科,申請門檻相對較低。教育集團(tuán)與大學(xué)合作,在學(xué)校里租借場地為學(xué)生提供課程。這類預(yù)科主要針對本校錄取。第二類是大學(xué)為本校本科學(xué)生開辦的直屬預(yù)科,大學(xué)直接提供師資及教學(xué)設(shè)施。預(yù)科學(xué)習(xí)完成后,學(xué)生可以直升相應(yīng)大學(xué)的本科。第三類大學(xué)通用型預(yù)科由大學(xué)開辦,師資力量強(qiáng)大,學(xué)生可以通過此類預(yù)科申請到排名前10的大學(xué)。但這類預(yù)科通常錄取門檻較高。因?yàn)閍同學(xué)平時(shí)成績較好,可以先通過此類預(yù)科入學(xué),進(jìn)行語言和課程過渡,然后申請更好的大學(xué)。
如果a同學(xué)想去美國留學(xué)則有更多方法,主要包含預(yù)科(橋梁課程)、雙錄取、轉(zhuǎn)錄幾種。
雙錄取其實(shí)是“有條件錄取(conditional admission)”,對于學(xué)業(yè)成績符合但語言沒有滿足學(xué)校條件的學(xué)生,學(xué)校會(huì)給學(xué)生發(fā)放兩份錄取通知書:一份是學(xué)校錄取通知書,標(biāo)明需要滿足的語言成績,另一份是語言機(jī)構(gòu)的錄取通知書。學(xué)生在完成6-12個(gè)月的語言課程達(dá)到語言要求后,就可以升入大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)專業(yè)課程。雙錄取的優(yōu)點(diǎn)是有專業(yè)錄取保障,申請周期短,適合希望盡快出國但又沒有托福雅思等語言成績的高三畢業(yè)生。
區(qū)別于雙錄取的語言課程,預(yù)科或橋梁課程基本包含語言和專業(yè)課兩部分,在此階段學(xué)生可以一邊提升語言一邊學(xué)習(xí)專業(yè)課獲取學(xué)分,為本科學(xué)習(xí)做好充分過渡。一般開設(shè)本科預(yù)科的學(xué)校排名會(huì)優(yōu)于雙錄取的學(xué)校,如果是排名前50的大學(xué),預(yù)科結(jié)束后需要遞交托福和sat重新申請本?;蛘咄庑5谋究普n程,對學(xué)生的課程基礎(chǔ)和學(xué)習(xí)能力要求更高。
如果學(xué)生本身未能達(dá)到夢校錄取要求又不想花一年時(shí)間刷標(biāo)化成績,那轉(zhuǎn)錄就是個(gè)很好的選擇。因?yàn)榭尚行愿唢L(fēng)險(xiǎn)小,近兩年選擇這種方式的學(xué)生越來越多。
轉(zhuǎn)錄其實(shí)就是轉(zhuǎn)學(xué),a同學(xué)可以選擇先申請入學(xué)門檻低的社區(qū)大學(xué),學(xué)習(xí)一兩年后再申請轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)至更好的綜合性大學(xué)。特別是有transfer admission guarantee機(jī)制的社區(qū)大學(xué),如果成績達(dá)到要求,可以申請轉(zhuǎn)入大學(xué)相關(guān)專業(yè)繼續(xù)就讀,畢業(yè)后可獲得該大學(xué)學(xué)士學(xué)位。通過轉(zhuǎn)錄申請綜合性大學(xué),既無需提供sat成績,又能節(jié)省在美國學(xué)習(xí)的時(shí)間和費(fèi)用,非常適合高考成績普通但又希望能盡快出國留學(xué)的學(xué)生。鑒于a同學(xué)平時(shí)成績較好,可以在進(jìn)入社區(qū)大學(xué)后嘗試申請加州大學(xué)系統(tǒng)內(nèi)排名靠前的公立名校。

先說一下自己的情況,我準(zhǔn)備去澳洲讀碩,醫(yī)學(xué)方面的,雅思分?jǐn)?shù)要求單科不低于。非英語工作環(huán)境在職4年,英語幾乎荒廢,所以為了出國,我準(zhǔn)備了整整2年,但有付出就有回報(bào),最終的成績足以說明!寫這篇文章,主要是總結(jié)一下經(jīng)驗(yàn),希望給大家一些幫助。

考前準(zhǔn)備:
當(dāng)我知道報(bào)考的學(xué)校單科分?jǐn)?shù)不低于分的時(shí)候,我就著手開始對雅思的分做了解!因?yàn)槭堑谝淮慰佳潘?,對于分?jǐn)?shù)的概念不是很清晰,當(dāng)我知道分并不是我現(xiàn)在的水平能達(dá)到的時(shí)候,我用了很長時(shí)間做了思想斗爭!到底要不要考,要怎么準(zhǔn)備!
-收集各類資料,了解雅思考試以及各類經(jīng)驗(yàn)方案等等,為接下來制定自己的計(jì)劃做準(zhǔn)備!
-了解自己目前的狀況,以后可針對各個(gè)弱項(xiàng)進(jìn)行加工,最后在通過練習(xí)提高熟悉程度!
-尋找輔導(dǎo)機(jī)構(gòu),對各個(gè)輔導(dǎo)機(jī)構(gòu)進(jìn)行分析,選擇好的,適合自己的!
聽力方面我最擔(dān)心,長時(shí)間的接觸英語,使得我在每次做聽力題的時(shí)候走神很嚴(yán)重,注意力也不行,而且雅思這東西全都是細(xì)節(jié)性的東西,總是會(huì)露掉,所以可謂是大敵當(dāng)前啊!我選用的聽力材料是劍橋、黑眼睛!黑眼睛還是比較基礎(chǔ)的,聽起來不是那么費(fèi)勁!聽力特訓(xùn),那真不是人做的,比真題難度大太多了!不過效果還是明顯的!
然后是閱讀方面,很多人和我說相對于gre的超長句子,雅思的廣告文章根本不用費(fèi)勁,我的閱讀基礎(chǔ)比較好,但是長時(shí)間的不使用退化的也不是很明顯,可還是注意力方面不太行,經(jīng)常會(huì)看著句子腦袋就不知道想什么了!無奈只能開始用筆在句子上一行一行的掃,讓注意力停留在筆尖上,結(jié)果很累人,但是注意力上去啦!閱讀題目的題型特別多特別復(fù)雜,只好通過題目練習(xí)來熟悉;單詞在那個(gè)時(shí)候也是一個(gè)問題,買了一個(gè)看起來比較薄得單詞書(好像叫雅思單詞真經(jīng)吧)花了 5,6天熟悉了一下。我對單詞書本身單詞量的要求也并不是很高,因?yàn)榭紤]到以前已經(jīng)背過像紅寶書這種變態(tài)單詞書,理論上講所有文章上的單詞都應(yīng)該認(rèn)識得, 只是有些生詞的詞義比較模糊需要整理一下吧!如果基礎(chǔ)差的同學(xué)個(gè)人建議是拿本托福的單詞書來背,單詞量就比較多了,背完了話心里實(shí)在!
對于寫作,大量的閱讀對寫作有 直接的幫助。語感的問題。而且我有一個(gè)讀書讀出聲的壞毛病。但是我發(fā)現(xiàn)這點(diǎn)對我的寫作有很大的好處,小聲讀讀自己的作文,可能馬上就發(fā)現(xiàn)問題在哪里了。
訓(xùn)練寫作,我只能說順其自然,寫寫自己的觀點(diǎn),在有一定邏輯結(jié)構(gòu)的情況下,不要去follow那些所謂的introduction, firstly, secondly, to conlude的模式,寫出自己的風(fēng)格。我平時(shí)是很喜歡寫作的,所以我寫過英文的短片的中篇的小說,還有很多議論文咯。雖然 ielts作文我掉鏈子,我覺得大量寫絕對是好處的,不管你寫什么,你對寫有熱情就是好的。而且尤其是中文作文寫得不錯(cuò)的人們要對自己有信心,語言還是有相通之處的,所以中文作文寫得好,英文作文也有很大機(jī)會(huì)能寫的好!
口語是我話時(shí)間最多的地方,在醫(yī)院里基本上是說不上英語的!所以為了能讓口語有所提高,我除了報(bào)線下的輔導(dǎo)班之外還報(bào)了線上的英語輔導(dǎo)班。最開始對于線上的課程不是很信任,更何況要得到分以上的分?jǐn)?shù),所以只想著找個(gè)外教帶帶我學(xué)習(xí)就好,鍛煉下口語!我爭取保證每個(gè)星期和外教連線3到4次。課后會(huì)把反饋錄音下載下來平時(shí)聽,聽見自己的和外教的對話,看到外教的反饋,確實(shí)收獲很多,而且消除了我和老外對話的恐懼和緊張,我記得開始的時(shí)候總是不知道該怎么說,所以會(huì)有很多停頓和錯(cuò)誤,但eq給了我很多種native的思路和表達(dá),讓我豁然開朗,不禁讓我慢慢對eq有了期待。我想口語這次能獲得這個(gè)分?jǐn)?shù),外教給了我很大的幫助!!!口語還是要多說多練的,還要懂得答題技巧!這樣才能得到高分!
心態(tài)也是相當(dāng)重要的,一定要想辦法克服考前綜合癥!對自己要有信心,要相信自己一段時(shí)間的復(fù)習(xí)能力!只有良好的心態(tài)才能考出平穩(wěn)的成績!!
